Cookie Policy
1. Overview
We believe in minimal, transparent data collection. Aikraft uses only a small number of essential and functional cookies necessary to operate the platform and remember your preferences, plus one first-party analytics cookie (PostHog, EU-hosted; see section 4). We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any third-party cookies designed to build a profile of your browsing behaviour across the web.
This policy explains exactly what cookies we set, why we set them, and how you can manage or remove them.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to the site owner. Cookies can be "session cookies", which are deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent cookies", which remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them.
Similar technologies include local storage and session storage in your browser — we use these only for the same purposes as the functional cookies described below.
3. Cookies We Use
The following table lists every cookie Aikraft sets. There are no hidden cookies.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
aikraft_session | Maintains your authenticated session after you log in. Without this cookie you would be logged out on every page load. | Strictly necessary | Session (deleted when browser closes) |
aikraft_csrf | A Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection token. This prevents malicious websites from submitting forms or requests on your behalf without your knowledge. | Strictly necessary | Session (deleted when browser closes) |
aikraft_prefs | Stores your interface preferences, such as your chosen colour theme (light/dark), sidebar collapsed state, and table column widths, so they persist across sessions. | Functional | 1 year |
aikraft_consent | Records the choices you have made in our cookie preference centre so we do not ask you again on every visit. | Functional | 1 year |
ph_* (e.g. ph_<project>_posthog) | First-party analytics cookie set by PostHog to measure how our website and product are used. Stores an anonymous device identifier; see section 4. | Analytics | 1 year |
Legal basis
Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive because they are essential for the operation of the service you have explicitly requested. We set them on the basis of contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Functional cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing a personalised and efficient user experience (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because these cookies serve only you and do not share data with third parties, we have determined that our legitimate interests are proportionate and do not override your privacy rights.
4. Analytics — PostHog
We use PostHog to understand how visitors interact with our marketing website and product. We run PostHog on its EU Cloud, hosted in the European Union, so analytics data does not leave the EEA.
How we have configured PostHog:
- EU hosting: data is processed in the European Union, not the US.
- Identified profiles only: PostHog is set to create person profiles only for identified (logged-in) users; anonymous visitors are not built into individual behavioural profiles.
- First-party only: we do not use PostHog for cross-site advertising or data sharing. The data belongs to us.
- Cookies: PostHog sets a first-party analytics cookie. Because this is not strictly necessary, our analytics consent mechanism is being finalised as part of our pre-launch legal review.
You can view PostHog's privacy documentation at posthog.com/privacy.
5. What We Do Not Use
For the avoidance of doubt, Aikraft does not use any of the following:
- Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager
- Facebook Pixel or any Meta tracking tools
- LinkedIn Insight Tag
- Advertising or retargeting cookies of any kind
- Third-party social media share/like buttons that set cookies
- Cross-site or cross-device tracking tools
- Browser fingerprinting for tracking
6. Managing Cookies
You have several options for controlling cookies:
Browser settings
All modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in to the Aikraft platform. Here are direct links to cookie management guides for common browsers:
Opt-out of analytics
You can clear or block the PostHog analytics cookie through your browser settings (see the links above). PostHog also honours the browser "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal where enabled. Once our analytics consent mechanism is finalised, you will be able to opt out directly through our cookie preference centre.
7. Changes to This Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy if we change the cookies we use. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. If we introduce new cookie categories that require your consent, we will seek that consent through our cookie preference centre.
